The pictures on our web pages are formated in 72 dpi "JPEG." A full depth of 16.7 million colors achieves a level of reproduction that allows you to assess the quality of the cartoons more easily. Of course, you must take into consideration a longer download-time.
A monitor with only 256 colors will not give you a clear perception of the cartoons. Your graphic card should have at least 32.000 colors in order to receive a reasonable reproduction.
